Origin
It started with two bad quotes on the same door
One company said it needed replacing. The other said it could be fixed. Both were confident, both had an obvious interest in their answer, and neither explained how they had reached it.
That is the problem with this trade. A repair company has a reason to call everything repairable. A replacement company has the opposite reason. The homeowner is asked to pick between two confident people who are each paid for a different conclusion.
So we built a company that does both. Door repair, lock repair, frame repair and door replacement all sit on the same price list, which means the recommendation is decided by your door rather than by our invoicing. We publish the five tests we use and we run them in front of you.
Windows are the deliberate exception. We repair them and we do not fit replacements at all, because windows are repairable far more often than doors are and we would rather not have the option.
Method
Four things we hold to
Repair first, always
Replacement is on the list because sometimes it is right, not because it is the default. Four of the five tests we run point back at a repair.
Name the part, name the test
Every estimate says which component failed. On a replacement quote it says which of the five tests the door failed and why.
Say when it is the building
Loess settlement, a racked opening, a failing threshold. None of that is work we profit from and all of it will defeat a new door exactly as it defeated the old one.
Stay out of other trades
No rekeying or lockouts, no automatic doors or certified exit hardware, no plumbing behind a shower, no masonry. We will point you to somebody rather than improvise.
People
Who turns up
A narrow trade worked every day. Our technicians handle the same assemblies constantly — entry doors and frames across Omaha and Lincoln's older housing, weight-and-pulley sash in the pre-war stock, builder-grade patio doors through the suburbs, shower enclosures full of Nebraska scale, and storm doors that the wind has had a go at.
They arrive in a stocked van, and the diagnosis starts on the phone. In a state this size a return trip for a forgotten part is a wasted morning for everybody.
They will also explain what they found, and if the honest answer is that your door needs replacing, they will show you which test it failed before anybody mentions a price.
